WHAT WE DO
Télédistribution Walferdange asbl is a non-profit local telecommunications service provider, dedicated to serving the residents of the municipality of Walferdange in Luxembourg. A local association born out of the collective antenna movement of the 1960s, TéléWalfer has continually invested in its network since its foundation in 1968. Member services include interactive cable TV, fixed telephony and high-speed Internet access. Our services are available to all residents of Bereldange, Helmsange and Walferdange.
The Télédistribution-Walferdange network is one of the most modern in the country, offering a wide range of television programs and interactive services. The development of the association and the services it offers has also been made possible by the ongoing support of the Commune of Walferdange. Today, its network connects nearly all buildings in Walferdange.
Since the mid-1990s, the CATV network of TéléWalfer has been systematically modernised. From a unidirectional coaxial cable network, it evolved into a hybrid network of fiber optics and coaxial cable (HFC), now laid entirely underground. The bandwidth has been extended to 862 MHz and the network made bidirectional. At the end of 2001, the residents of Walferdange were the first in Luxembourg to be able to access the Internet via cable. In the first phase, the association worked with specialized Internet service providers. In autumn 2011, it launched the “walfer.net” service, operated under its own management. In spring 2012, the association upgraded to the Docsis 3.0 standard and began offering speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s, then 450 Mbit/s. Speeds of up to 1,000 Mbit/s (1 Gigabit) will be introduced, thanks to the Docsis 3.1 standard, in the course of 2025. At the beginning of 2015, telephony was added to the Internet access service.
At the end of 2006, the Walferdange collective antenna entered the digital TV era, thanks to a partnership with commercial cable operator Eltrona. Subscribers thus gained access not only to an even wider range of programs, with over 80 channels in the basic package from the outset, but also to pay-TV packages. Digitisation also enabled the introduction of high-definition (HD) television services in 2010. Broadcasting of the analog signal was definitively discontinued in November 2017.
Since September 2021, Télédistribution Walferdange has provided access to TV+, Eltrona’s interactive television service. Subscribers benefit from record, pause and catch-up functions (over the last seven days).
Télédistribution-Walferdange is a member of the Association des antennes collectives du Luxembourg.

Founded in 1968 by residents to address the need for better TV signal quality in the Alzette valley, Télédistribution Walferdange has been a pillar of the Walferdange community for over 50 years. We began with a community antenna television service broadcasting six TV channels to about 300 member households. Our longstanding presence, commitment to excellence, and continuous investments in the latest CATV and ISP network technologies have allowed us to build a strong, trusted relationship with our customers.
